Joe Jonas Announces Work on Solo Album
Only one month before Nick Jonas made his debut as Marius in a West End production of Les Miserables, his older brother and band-mate, Joseph Jonas, announced in a May interview with Just Jared Jr. that he would be embarking on a new solo project. What could be awaiting the 20-year-old pop-rock sensation after appearing as a guest star on American Idol and making an extended trip to South Africa? A solo album with musical producer Frankmusik.
Since the CD's announcement, Joe has released info about the piece, saying that it's “very electropop, dance music...that’s pretty much the direction.”
“I've always been influenced by artists like Michael Buble who can tell stories in their vocals. I thought that might be a good place for me to go but that's not really what I do. I love to rock out, jump around and get the crowd going. So once I started writing, that was the feel of the record.”
Progress on the album has been going well. Joe has said that he and Frankmusik have already written “one song together, and I’m excited!” While the CD may not be released until sometime next year (possibly alongside the JoBros’ fourth album from Hollywood Records), Joe and his fans will certainly be able to keep themselves busy.
This summer, the boys and Demi Lovato will be going on the “Jonas Brothers: Live in Concert” tour featuring both of the acts’ original songs, along with numbers from the highly-anticipated upcoming Disney Channel movie, Camp Rock 2.
Also out is the new series JONAS L.A., sequel to JONAS, which premiered on the DC network on June 20. The accompanying album will be available in stores July 20, and music videos for the show’s “L.A. Baby” and “Fall” can be found on YouTube.
Great job, Joe! It is beyond-incredible to know that you are now working on your own album, stretching your wings, and trying something new while remaining true to your style and yourself. I, for one, will be buying it without any hesitation. Can’t wait!
